2015’s Desert Storm Poker Run and Speed Shootout

The Desert Storm Poker Run and Speed Shootout was another successful event this year. The event exceeded all guest’s expectations and continues to amaze visitors year after year. This boat show and shootout has grown to be one of the largest high performance boat shows in the world, and all of us here at Teague Custom Marine were thrilled to take part in the growing event.

Krusin’ for Kids

This year’s Desert Storm Poker Run included some of our favorite events along with the high-powered speed shootout. The 4th annual Krusin’ for Kids event, hosted by Teague Custom Marine and Lake Racer LLC, took place on Wednesday, April 22 allowing boatersto give over 100 special needs children and adults performance powerboat rides around the lake for the majority of the day. This allowed children and adults who are normally left on the sidelines due to their disabilities the chance to interact and take part in the Desert Storm event. We had one of the best turnouts to date with almost 2 dozen different boats in all sizes and varieties for our special guests to receive rides in! Thank you to the Desert Storm poker runners who step up and donate their time, gas, and use of their boat to change lives. A fun day was had by all and we cannot thank all the volunteers enough.

Tyren

After the conclusion of Krusin’ for Kids boat rides, the team working with Desert Storm held a silent and live auction for our beneficiary New Horizons Center, a non-profit organization that assists those with special needs. One of the auction items that stood out was a didgeridoo, an instrument from “Down Under”, which was brought to the event by participant Tyren Edwards who travelled all the way from Australia. Tyren not only donated the didgeridoo for the Krusin’ for Kids auction, he also delighted the awards banquet attendees with a musical performance to demonstrate how it can be used.

Between the private donations and a live auction held at the Desert Storm Awards Banquet, the Krusin’ for Kids event raised approximately $38,000 for the New Horizons Center in Lake Havasu. All of the contributions and donations made directly benefitted those at New Horizons, and we were grateful for the opportunity to participate, volunteer, and contribute to helping those in need.

Desert Storm Street Party

Our other favorite event from this year’s Desert Storm Poker Run was the 9th Annual Desert Storm Street Party that took place Thursday, April 23. Boaters from all over the nation gathered together to display their finest high-powered speedboats. This boat show continues to amaze visitors every year with the faster boats, new technology, and unimaginable motors that are capable of speeds you wouldn’t think were possible. The Street Party was a free all-day event where visitors got a close up view of the high-powered speed racing boats. The event displayed custom boats, tow vehicles, a full range of marine electronics, and more. Teague Custom Marine & Team AMSOIL Offshore Racing were on the scene to enjoy the event, sell apparel and accessories, support our clients and meet friends & fans.A special fan that takes a photo with Bob Teague every year at Desert Storm
