Engines without a cam thrust plate must use a cam button spacer when using a roller lifter camshaft to limit lateral movement. The unique needle-bearing button reduces friction and delivers extra free horsepower. Crane solid aluminum spacers are a good alternative and can be machined to custom lengths for non-stock timing covers.
